Lumenis Aluma
Overview
Lumenis Aluma is a non-invasive skin renewal system that employs cutting-edge radiofrequency technology to counteract the onset of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. It is an ideal solution to achieve a rejuvenated appearance without surgery, recovery time, or injections. This treatment is a minimally invasive process to consider if you would like to tighten sagging skin, improve aged and sun-damaged skin, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on your face, neck, and body for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

How Lumenis Aluma Works
>Lumenis Aluma uses the revolutionary Functional Aspiration Controlled Electrothermal Stimulation (FACES) technology. During FACES, problem areas are pre-treated with a vacuum, and the Aluma handpiece then sends radiofrequency waves into the dermis skin layer. This energy develops a contained area of heat, which aids in collagen production and natural skin renewal. After an Aluma session, anti-aging results continue to develop as the skin rebuilds itself.

Transmitting radiofrequencies from the surface of the skin to the underlying layers, this procedure minimizes risk for epidermal damage. Mainly used on the skin, Aluma can also be used elsewhere on the body to treat and tighten skin that has lost elasticity. Unlike other laser skin rejuvenation procedures, Aluma features a more specific, contained treatment area and thus reduces discomfort on the surface of the skin.

Because it neither uses light nor damages the outer skin layers, Aluma is especially popular for treatment around the eyes. The eyes are one of the first places to show signs of aging, but are also among the most difficult areas to treat using most technologies. Aluma is safe for this delicate area, helping to combat fine lines, crow's feet, puffiness around the eyes, and dark circles.

What to Expect
Skin tightening treatments last 15 minutes–1 hour. During the procedure, the outer layer of skin is cooled while the underlying layers are heated with radiofrequency energy, destroying old, weakened collagen and stimulating the formation of new collagen and tightening of the skin. Patients generally experience only slight discomfort.

After treatment, there is no downtime. You may experience lingering warmth, swelling, or redness in the treated area, which fades within a few hours of treatment. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time.

Effectiveness and Results
Immediate skin tightening results may be observed, and results continue to improve over the next several weeks. While the procedure cannot remove excess skin, patients will notice a significant reduction of wrinkles in the treated area and firmer, healthier-looking skin. Additional skin tightening occurs over the next few months, but optimal results usually require several treatments, each about a month apart. Typical skin tightening results are visible for up to 2 years, and many patients find that they can extend their optimal results with a few touch-up treatments.

Possible Side Effects
Swelling is a common side effect, with possibile redness, bruising, or blistering following the procedure. Hyper- or hypo-pigmentation are rare but may also occur, characterized by an increase or decrease in skin coloration, respectively.
